The very broadly elliptic basal and lower leaves are diagnostic, as they are much broader than nearly all examples of C. linifolia and C. falcata. C. palustris may have stem leaves that wide, but it lacks lower and basal leaves at flowering time. Read more at Vascular Plants of North Carolina.
